Reilly is a very sweet loving dog who is looking for a home that is experienced with: previous vizsla owner, seperation anxiety and resulting insecurities, understands what socializing means, and someone who is very active. Before Reilly came into rescue she was an outside dog and kept in the backyard. Reilly is going to need a lot of gentle but firm guidance to get past this. It is something that takes time, effort, patience, attention, love, training and a very stable environment. She will need a home where someone is home most of the day or works from home and NO young children. She tends to be afraid of children since she was not socialized properly with them. Reilly is very loyal and can be clingy due lack of attention. When she goes outside to use the bathroom she wants to come back in right away to be with you. A dog door would help alleviate her anxiety about being locked outside. Otherwise she will be knocking to come in. Reilly is also cautious and timid around new people. Her foster mom thinks she is a great dog, who needs a great owner! She is one of the smartest dogs and learns quickly. Her foster mom reports that she is making progress in being less protective of her foster home. Here are some of the commands she knows: Sit, lay down, play dead, head down, shake, back up, give a kiss, catches a fezbee, jumps up and aims for targets, loves the ball and plays in water and if you ask her who is a smart girl she raises her paw , you tap your thigh and she will stand next to it. Reilly is also good on a leash and loves to go for long runs or run next to you while you ride ride your bike. Exercising her a lot will help her get some of the anxiety out. She loves to snuggle up with you on the sofa. Reilly is housebroken. She also is good with other dogs too! We would love Reilly to get a home with another doggy friend so she can feel like a dog again. However, she can only be placed in a home with a male dog or a non-dominant female. Reilly is currently in a foster home with a couple of dog friends. She is a petite female weighing 42 pounds. View a video here. |
